Cobras Remain Perfect in Conference Play with 3-2 Win Over Tornados

BREVARD, N.C. – The Coker College men's soccer team picked up a 3-2 road win over the Brevard College Tornados on Saturday (Sept. 17) in South Atlantic Conference action. The win moves the Cobras to 3-1-1 and 2-0 in SAC play.

Aladdin Elfares extended his scoring streak to four matches when he found the back of the net in the 13th minute off of a Steffen Husum pass. The Cobras surrendered a goal in the 44th minute, leaving the two teams tied at 1-1 going into the locker rooms for half.

Coker struck first in the second half, when Alvaro Urena scored his third goal of the season in the 53rd minute to put the Navy and Gold ahead 2-1. The Tornados would not go down quietly, scoring an equalizing goal in the 79th minute to tie the match up at 2-2. In the final moments, it was freshman Christian Amtoft who stepped up and buried a game-winning goal in the 88th minute to propel the Cobras to a 3-2 win.

Elfares, Urena and Amtoft all led the way with a goal each, while Husum picked up the assist on the goal by Elfares.

In goal, Michael Ritterbeck collected four saves.

The Cobras will be back in action on Wednesday (Sept. 21) when they travel to Newberry College to take on the Wolves. Opening kick is set for a 1 p.m. start.
