Cobras and Hawks Square Off in Home Opener

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College men's soccer team will step foot on the friendly confines of the Coker College Athletic Field for the first time in the 2016-17 season on Wednesday (Sept. 7) at 5 p.m., when they host the visiting Chowan University Hawks for a non-conference matchup. Last time on the pitch, the Cobras played the Belmont Abbey College Crusaders to a 1-1 double-overtime draw in a non-conference road tilt.

Alvaro Urena leads the Navy and Gold with one goal, while Mads Aagurd, Joby Griggs, Redd Pratley and Urena all earned one shot on goal in the draw. Between the pipes, goalkeeper Michael Ritterbeck collected five saves in 110 minutes.

The Hawks make the trip to Hartsville sporting a 1-1 record, after a 2-0 win against Emmanuel College. Terell Williamson leads the way offensively with one goal and one assist, while Paul Migliarini also has one goal this season.

Opening kick is set for 5 p.m., with the gates of the Coker Athletic Field opening at 4 p.m. Tickets for the match are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students.
