Coker and Mount Olive Tie 2-2

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Coker men's soccer team played the University of Mount Olive Trojans to a 2-2 draw on Wednesday (Sept. 10) in non-conference soccer action. 

The Cobras took an early 1-0 lead when Jordan Snell netted a goal in the fifth minute of action. Snell blasted a shot past the Trojan keeper off the far post. The score remained 1-0 in favor of the Coker until the second half.

Six minutes into the second half Coker stretched its lead to 2-0 when Mount Olive pushed an own goal past its keeper in the 51st minute.

Coker held the two goal advantage until the 81st minute when the Trojans got on the board to make it 2-1. Seven minutes later Mount Olive tied the game with its second goal in the 88th minute of action. 

The score remained 2-2 through two extra periods, ending the match in a draw.

The Cobras out shot the Trojans 21-17 and there were a combined 32 fouls in the match.

Kyndle Cobb also made eight saves in the goal for the Cobras.

Coker will return to action on Saturday (Sept. 13) in its first South Atlantic Conference match of the season at Lincoln Memorial. Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m. Live stats and video of the match will be available at www.cokercobras.com.
