Jackson's Hat Trick Leads to Coker's 4-0 Win

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Daniel Jackson's hat trick propelled the regionally ranked No. 5 Coker College men's soccer team to a 4-0 victory over Mount Olive College on Wednesday (Oct. 2) night. With the win the Cobras move to 4-2-2 on the year.

After a scoreless first half, Jackson broke the stalemate when he pushed a shot past the Trojan goalkeeper with an assist from Fernando Bedoya in the 47th minute. Five minutes later Jackson struck again. This time he took a pass from Stephen Scrivens and blasted it into the back of the net.

The score remained 2-0 in favor of the Cobras for 18 more minutes, until Jackson scored his third goal of the match. With an assist from Giouliano Andrade, Jackson recorded his first hat trick of the season. Jose Herenceia added the fourth and final goal for Coker in the 83rd minute of play with an assist from Connor Norton-Baker.

Kyndle Cobb and Mark Nankervis combined for the shutout. Cobb made three saves and Nankervis made one.

In all the Cobras dominated the offensive end of the field. They out shot Trojans 28-9, placing 14 shots on frame.

The Cobras will return to the pitch on Saturday (Oct. 5) for their 2013 Homecoming match at home against Catawba College. Kick-off is slated for 4 p.m.
