Jackson and Cobb Lead Coker Past Lenoir-Rhyne

HICKORY, N.C. – Daniel Jackson scored twice, while Kyndle Cobb posted a shutout as the regionally ranked No. 5 Coker Cobras defeated the regionally ranked No. 8 Lenoir-Rhyne Bears, 2-0, on Wednesday (Sept. 25) in South Atlantic Conference men's soccer action.

With the win the Cobras move to 2-0-1 in the SAC and 3-1-2 overall.

Coker and L-R seemed evenly matched through the first 30 minutes of action, as both teams were unable to capitalize on scoring chances. Jackson broke the scoring drought in the 32nd when he stole a failed clear off a goal kick and beat the Bear's keeper for his third goal of the season.

Jackson wasted no time adding his second goal of the match in the 38th minute of play. After weaving his way through the Bear defense, he fired a shot at the far post and past the goalkeeper.

The Cobra defense buckled down and held the two-goal advantage through the rest of the match. Cobb earned his second clean sheet of the season with eight saves.

Coker will return to action on Saturday (Sept. 28) in a conference match at 7 p.m. against Queens University of Charlotte.
