
Taylor Lifts Coker to 2-1 Overtime Win
Matt Taylor scored a goal in the 105th minute, giving Coker a 2-1 double-overtime win over Florida Southern

LAKELAND, Fla.- Sophomore Matt Taylor netted the game-winning goal in Coker College's 2-1 double-overtime win over Florida Southern College on Thursday night. The No. 18 Cobra men's soccer team improves to 1-0 with the victory.
The Coker men will continue their season opening road trip in the Sunshine State with a match against No. 5 Flagler College on Saturday at 7 p.m.
After a scoreless opening half, Coker was first to strike thanks to a goal from senior Eric Stiefield, with an assist from junior Kevin Arellana. Stiefield found the back of the net when he slid the ball past the Moc goalkeeper in the 77th minute.
Florida Southern evened the score in the 84th minute on a penalty kick goal by Ashley Holmes.
In the 105th minute Taylor buried the game-winner off a cross from senior Carlos Recinos.
Senior goalkeeper James Sweeney had three saves in the match, while Coker outshot the Mocs 22-15.
