KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Five Coker College men’s soccer players were named to the 2011 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division II All-Southeast Region First Team released on Tuesday. The quintet Cobra players made up the largest group of players from a single team to be named to the first team.
Representing Coker are juniors James Sweeney (Huntingtown, Md.) at goalkeeper, Rommel Fondin (Palm Bay, Fla.) at midfield and Carlos Recinos (Houston, Texas) at forward, along with sophomore defender Atticus Lum (Advance, N.C.) and freshman defender Fernando Bedoya (Miami, Fla.).
All five were also First Team All-Conference selections, including Recinos earning Conference Carolinas Player of the Year honors. They led the Cobras to an 18-3 overall record and a 10-1 conference record. Additionally, they led Coker to their first ever Conference Carolinas regular season championship, their second conference tournament championship in three years and their first ever NCAA Tournament appearance.
