HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker College rising sophomores, Noah Lascell (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) and James Sweeney (Huntingtown, Md.) have been given a most prestigious honor in the world of sports, they get to represent their country in international competition. Lascell and Sweeney have both been selected to play for Team USA soccer at the Bajan Goodwill Series in Barbados July 18-25.
Both players join other collegiate soccer players from across the country as part of USA Athletes International, a non-profit organization dedicated to giving amateur athletes and coaches the opportunity to participate in international Olympic-style sporting events throughout the world, while also allowing them to broaden their educational and cultural knowledge of the world through the experience.
Lascell, a midfielder, and Sweeney, a goalkeeper for the Cobras, will play four games while in Barbados for Team USA. The first game of the series was on Tuesday, July 20 and Team USA won 2-1.
