HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Conference Carolinas Champion Coker men’s soccer team visited Carolina Elementary school last week to host a short instructional clinic and hopefully inspired the next generation of soccer stars in Hartsville.  Over 75 aspiring soccer players turned out for the event, looking to hone their soccer skills with the help of the Cobras.

Head Coach Paul Leese was very proud of the show his players put on for the young players of Hartsville. "It was great to see the smiles on the kids faces today and to know that soccer can bring so much fun and excitement to their lives.  It was very warm out there but they never stopped running and their energy is so contagious!"

"They were so eager to learn and it was fun being the coach for the day,” said Marc Mergena, a rising senior for the Cobras. “At college we work so hard to be successful, but you can see how much joy soccer brings at every level."

The men's soccer team will return after the summer break with the challenge of defending their 2009 conference tournament title.  "The players have shown great desire this spring," said Leese.  "I am proud of their work on the field, in the classroom and in the community - they are a great asset to the College and to the city of Hartsville."
