Hartsville, S.C. – The Coker Cobras were unable to top the #15 ranked Trojans of Anderson University of Saturday afternoon in Conference Carolinas men’s soccer action. Anderson defeated the Cobras 2-0 behind goals from Paulo Passini and Rayon Markland. The win improves Anderson to 12-1-2 overall and 6-1-2 in conference play, while Coker falls to 10-4-2 overall and 4-4-1 in the conference.

It was a hard fought, tightly contested game with each team registering six shots on goal and a total of 22 fouls being issued.

Passini got the Trojans on the board with a header off a cross into the middle from Ben Jones in the 48th minute. Then Markland netted the insurance goal off a deflection in 74th minute.

Coker had plenty of opportunities to break the goal column, but the Trojan keeper Benjamin Pepion was am to secure the shutout while making three saves.

Coker returns to the field on Saturday, Oct. 31, when they travel to Laurinburg, N.C. to face St. Andrews Presbyterian College in their final regular season match of the year.
