CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The spectators at the Royals men’s soccer game were treated to 20 minutes of free soccer tonight as the Royals and Coker Cobras played to a 0-0 finish in Conference Carolinas action at the Queens Sports Complex at Marion Diehl Park.

The Royals (3-4-1/1-3-1), who are coming off of a tough loss to Limestone on Saturday, held possession for the beginning of the game, but then the teams played hot-potato with the ball for just about the rest of the game.

While neither controlled play for an extended amount of time Coker (7-1-2/2-1-2) was able to get some shots off while in the Royals end. Noah Lascell (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) led the Cobras with four shots and Maurcio Claros(Orlando, Fla.) had two shots and both were on goal.

Queens battled in the second half and doubled the number of shots from the first, six-three. Jeremy Chambers led the Royals offense with three shots, one on goal.

Coker led in total shots, 19-11, but the Royals held Coker to just one shot in the first overtime period after a game-high eight in the second half.

The teams were close in corner kicks, 8-5, in favor of the Cobras.

Chris Raines and John Rush split the time in the goal for Queens. Raines played the first 45 making three saves and Rush played the remaining 65 minutes and stopped seven shots. For Coker, James Sweeney (Huntingtown, Md.) played the whole game and made three saves.

Queens will rest until Oct. 7 when they host Brevard at 6:00 p.m., while Coker returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 3 when they host Southern Wesleyan in their 2009 Homecoming match at 4:00 p.m.
