Hartsville, S.C. – Lees-McRae’s Berin Boracic tallied all three goals , as the nationally ranked #4 Bobcats defeated the #23 ranked Coker Cobras 3-1 on Saturday afternoon in Conference Carolinas men’s soccer. The victory keeps the Bobcats perfect on the year, 7-0 overall and 3-0 in conference, while the loss gives the Cobras their first of the season and drops them to 7-1-1 overall and 2-1 in the conference.

Boracic (Orlando, Fla.) notched his first goal of the afternoon at the 29 minute mark with a blast from 25 yards out. No less than 10 minutes later, Boracic struck again, this time he took a shot just inside the penalty area that tipped off a Coker defended past the Cobra keeper James Sweeney (Huntingtown, Md.). Lees-McRae took a 2-0 led into the halftime.

After the break the Cobras came out firing and finally got on the board with a goal from senior Mike Crook (Bradenton, Fla.) in the 49th minute off a penalty kick. The Cobras continued to apply heavy pressure, but were unable to get anything past the Bobcats Sean Paradise in goal.

Boracic secured the Bobcat victory in the 61st minute with his third goal of the match, another defection off a Cobra defender. For the next 29 minutes the Bobcat defenders held the Cobras at bay and showed why they are #4 in the country.

Sweeny and Paradise each ended the match with three saves, while Lees-McRae held a slight advantage on shots 12-9.

Coker returns to the pitch on Wednesday, Sept. 30 as they travel to Queens University of Charlotte for a 5:30 p.m. match.
