Brevard, N.C. – The Cobras men’s soccer team improved to 5-0 on Sunday afternoon with a 1-0 win over Brevard College. With the win, Coach Paul Leese and the Coker men have successfully set a new record for the best start in school history. Along with the 5-0 record the Cobras have not allowed a single goal in their last four matches.

Freshman, Alan Cuevas (Houston, Texas) was lone goal scorer in Sunday’s match, netting his first collegiate goal in the 24th minute of play. The Coker defense then held off the Tornado attack for the next 66 minutes securing the Cobras fifth straight victory.

James Sweeney (Huntingtown, Md.) improved to 5-0 as the Cobras goalkeeper, including recording his fourth straight shutout in the goal.

Coker will look to continue their winning ways on Saturday, Sept. 12, when the Cobras take on the Trojans of Mount Olive College in their first Conference Carolinas match of the season. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Coker College Soccer Field.
