Hartsville, S.C. – A goal and an assist by Dennis Gonzalez (Orlando, FL) on his senior day led the Coker men’s soccer team to a 2-0 victory over the St. Andrews Presbyterian College Knights on Saturday afternoon. The win improves the Cobras record to 6-10-2 on the year, and 2-6-1 in Conference Carolinas play, while St. Andrews falls to 6-9-1 overall, and 2-7 in the conference.

In a hard fought, physical match on both sides of the ball, Daniel Shrizad (Orlando, FL) found the back of the net for the Cobras first goal in the 41st minute with an assist from Gonzalez. Then just two minutes into the second half, Gonzalez scored his own goal with an assist from Mike Crook (Bradenton, FL).

It was a very physical match, with 30 total fouls, four yellow cards and two red cards issued in the match.

Knight’s keeper, Nick Stevens had five saves, while Ryan Lewis (Satellite Beach, FL) had five saves as well.

Coker will play their final regular season conference match of the season on Monday, as they host Barton College at 7:00 p.m.
