Hartsville, S.C. – The Coker Cobras men’s soccer team snapped their six game losing streak with a 4-2 win over the Crusaders of North Greenville on Monday night in collegiate soccer. The win improves the Cobras to 2-6-1 on the year, while North Greenville falls to 1-7.

Coker jumped out to an early 1-0 lead with a one timer from Stefan Voukes (Winter Park, FL) with an assist from Mark Mergena (Port-au-Prince, Haiti) in the 15th minute. North Greenville scored the equalizer in the 24th minute when Joel Watkins (Alpharetta, GA) fed Seth Snyder (Fountain Inn, SC) a one timer. Just 30 seconds later, Mike Crook (Bradenton, FL) gave the Cobras the lead once again with an unassisted goal.

In the second half Mergena picked up a goal with an assist from Felix Siladi (Suwannee, GA) giving Coker a two goal lead, but the Crusaders closed the gap to just a goal, when Max Durante (Porto Alegre, Brazil)scored on a penalty kick. In the 77th minute Daniel Shrizad (Orlando, FL) gave the Cobras back their two goal lead with a header off a corner kick from Siladi.

North Greenville’s Nick Williams (Grayson, GA) had eight saves in the match, while Coker out shot the Crusaders 20-12 and Coker’s Ryan Lewis (Satellite Beach, FL) had four saves.

Coker returns to the field on Wednesday, as they host the Saints of Limestone College at 7:00 p.m. on the Coker Soccer Field.
