Hartsville, S.C. – Aaron Brittain (Cleveland, England) found the back of the net three times, for a hat trick, as the No. 17 ranked Lander University Bearcats dominated the Coker College Cobras 5-0 in a non-conference collegiate soccer match on Saturday afternoon. The loss drops the Cobras to 1-2-1 on the season, while the Bearcats improve to 2-0.

Although the score does not show it, Coker did stay right with Lander throughout the first half keeping possession for most of the half, but the Cobras were unable to convert on their chances. Lander had fewer chances in the first half, but was able to convert them when it counted, taking a 2-0 lead into halftime.

In the second half, the Bearcats turned up the heat and packed in three more goals and nailed shut any Cobra come back. Along with Brittain, Jamie Davison (Middlesbrough, England) and Adam Arthur (York, England) each notched goals for the Bearcats, while Arthur also had three assists, with Brittain and Davison each getting an assist as well.

Lander out shot Coker 12-9, while Joel Tyson (Irmo, SC) and Ryan Lewis (Satellite Beach, Fla.) combined for three Cobra saves and Billy Hale (Athens, Ga.) had five saves for the Bearcats.

Coker will take a week to prepare for their next contest, as the Cobras will take on their first Conference Carolinas opponent of the season, Queens University of Charlotte on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 4:00 p.m. Lander will host Tusculum on Tuesday, in a non-conference match at 7:00 p.m.
