Hartsville, SC- Coker College Head Men’s Soccer Coach, Robert Lane, announced the addition of 12 new player’s to the Cobra Men’s Soccer Team for the 2007-2008 fall season. The group includes nine players from Florida, two from North Carolina and one from Georgia. “I am very excited about the depth and talent that is in this recruiting class,” said Coach Lane, “I look for each of these guys to make an immediate impact on the field for us.”

 

Daniel Shirzard is from Winter Springs, FL, where he was a member of the FC America Club out of Orlando. As a senior Shirzard was named first team All-State and participated in the Florida State All-Star game representing the Florida East Team. He is a forward that tallied 17 goals in his final high school season.

 

Sam Bevan, a native of Duluth, GA, plays defense and was a member of the Atlanta Fire Elite Club Team. His team participated in the National Red Bull League and was a member of the Region 3 Premier League. Bevan was a two-time team captain and MVP of his Northview High School Team.

 

Ben Robinson comes to Coker from DeLand, FL, where he also played for the FC America Club Team. Robinson is a midfielder and was a four year starter for DeLand High School.

 

Bryan Musungu is a native of Fayetteville, NC, where he was a member of the Fayetteville Force Club team. Musungu attended Pine Forest High School and was named an All-Conference defender in both his junior and senior years.

 

Doug McMahen is the third member of FC America that will be joining the Cobras in the fall. McMahen is from Winter Springs, Fl, where he was a four year starter in the midfield for his high school team.

 

Adam Danziger joins the Cobras from Palmetto, FL, where he played club soccer for the Braden River Rage. Danziger is a goalkeeper and was a member of the 2007 District Championship team at Palmetto High School, where he was a three year varsity starter.

 

Ryan Lewis is from Satellite Beach, FL. Lewis is also a goalkeeper, and he played high school soccer at Satellite Beach High where his team was the 2007 District Champions. He was named a Brevard County All-Star in both football and soccer.

 

Gib Alligood is a native of Tarboro, NC, where he attended Rocky Mount Academy. Alligood was named to the All-Conference Team as a midfielder.

 

Rounding out the 12 new faces of the Coker Men’s Soccer program are mid-year transfers, Mike Crook from Bradenton, FL, Tino Sangster from Orlando, FL, Jason Fowler from Sanford, FL, and Marc Mergena also from Bradenton, FL. Crook and Mergena are both from Manatee Community College, while Sangster transferred from Tyler Community College and Fowler transferred from Barry University.

 

The Cobras open their 2007 season on Saturday, August 25, as they host the Bulldogs of Wingate University at 7:00 p.m. at the Coker College Soccer Field.
