HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The visiting North Greenville Crusaders won a close game against the Coker College Cobras 3-2 on Tuesday evening.

 

The first goal came in the fifth minute by North Greenville’s Bruno Contardo when he made a nice chip over the keeper to take early lead 1-0.

 

The second goal came from the Crusaders when the Cobras went to make a clear out of the box and they accidentally scored on their own goal, giving the Crusaders a 2-0 lead.

 

However the Cobras would fire back late in the first half with a goal from Dennis Gonzalez, which was assisted by Sean Maupin.  Maupin and Gonzalez lead the breakaway when Maupin got pressured and gave Gonzalez as he knocked in past the keeper.

 

After the half, Gabriel Altmayer scored in the 58th minute with a shot past the keeper, Joel Tyson.  This gave the Crusaders a comfortable lead with 30 minutes remaining in the game.

 

However the Cobras would not give up.  In the 68th minute Dennis Gonzalez fired a bullet in the bottom left hand corner giving the keeper no chance to save the ball.

 

The Cobras out shot the Crusaders 13-10 but were unable to capitalize.  They also had their chances to score off corner kicks with 13 chances compared to the Crusaders only 2.

 

The Crusaders next match comes on Saturday, when they travel to Bravard College with a 3 p.m. kickoff.

 

On Saturday the Cobras (2-6)  travel to play Lees-McRae at 4 p.m. in Banner Elk, NC.
