Hartsville, SC- Eight minutes into overtime, Colin Ryan gave Olivier Harper a perfect cross just inside the 18 yard box that Harper gave one touch down and then buried in the back of the net, to give the Cobras a 4-3 overtime victory over the Flying Fleet of Erskine College. With the win Coker improved to 2-5 overall, and 1-1 in the CVAC, while Erskine fell to 1-5 overall, and 0-2 in the CVAC.

Erskine was the first to strike when Same Bodine placed a ball that deflected off a Coker defender in the net in the 10th minute. The Cobras struck next when Sean Maupin stole the ball from the Erskine defender and dashed in for the goal.

The score remained tied at one through the half, until Maupin struck again, this time blasting a shot from the left side that found the back of the net past the Erskine keeper. Erskine’s John Leppert evened the game at two with a little help from Franz Destine with a header in the 53 minute.

The Cobras would not be out done, this time Dennis Gonzalez gave the Cobras a 3-2 lead. Coker had a direct kick that bounced off a Fleet defender and Gonzalez picked it up inside the box and put it in the goal. Unfortunately for Coker, Erskine wasn’t going away either, this time it was Simon Morris who tied the game at three, which is where it remained until the end of regulation.

The next match for each team is on Tuesday, September 19, with Coker hosting North Greenville at 7:00 p.m. and Erskine traveling to Limestone for a game at 4:15 p.m.
