Pembroke, NC- In their second contests of the season, neither Coker Soccer Team was able to get the offense going, as they both fell to the UNC-Pembroke Braves. The women lost 5-0 and the men lost 3-0, dropping both teams to 0-2 on the year.

In the men’s match, Pembroke jumped on the Cobras early, scoring the first two goals of the game off the second and third shots of the game. The Cobras held the Braves in check until the 74th minute, when a ball deflected of a Coker player into their own goal, giving Pembroke a 3-0 lead.

 

The Cobras recorded four shots in the match and goalkeeper Nathan Scales had two saves, along with freshman Jeremy Smith, who also recorded two saves.

 

Next up for the Cobra Soccer Clubs is Chowan College on Friday, September 1 at the Coker College Soccer Field. The women kick-off at 4:00 p.m. followed by the men at 7:00 p.m. These are the first home matches of the season and both teams will be on the hunt for their first victories of the year.
