Thomasville, NC - Gibson Baafour of Coker College (* 2-11-1 overall, 3-6-1 CVAC) has been selected as the NCAA Division II Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference (CVAC) men’s soccer Player of the Week.

Baafour helped the Cobras clinch a birth in the CVAC Tournament for the first time since 1995 with their 6-0 victory over Limestone College last week.  In a match where the winner took control of the final playoff birth, Baafour erupted with four goals for eight points to stun the motivated Saints.

The senior scored first in the 22nd minute to give Coker a commanding 2-0 lead.  His second goal had everybody fooled, as he faked a pass back to a teammate and then ripped a shot into the upper corner, all the time with his back to the goal. When the North Augusta, SC native tallied his fourth goal it gave the Cobras an insurmountable 5-0 lead and ensured CC a date in the CVAC quarterfinals against Queens University of Charlotte.
