COBRAS END SEASON ON THE ROAD IN CONFERENCE PLAY

Wingate, NC - The Cobras fell to a top-ten team in the country tonight in the form of the tenth-ranked Wingate Bulldogs.

How It Happened

After falling down 2-0 early, the Cobras brought it back within one on Beighey's first goal (Tyler Ajemian assist). Then, after the Bulldogs took back a two-goal lead, the Cobras struck again with another Beighey goal (Britt Rumbaugh assist) to bring it to 3-2. The Cobras allowed the next three goals to go down 6-2, but a Will Habel goal (Kaleb Hiltz assist) brought it back to 6-3. The rest of the first half saw the Cobras give up two, but had Sawyer Alexander score (Ford assist) as we headed to halftime down 8-4.

The third quarter was what put this one to rest, with Wingate outscoring Coker 11-1 to take a 19-5 lead heading into the final period. The lone goal came from Beighey (Forehand assist), who logged a hat-trick on the day. The Cobras then scored two of the first three in the fourth on two Ford goals (one unassisted, one Forehand assist) as they closed out their season when the final whistle blew.

Notables

  • Beighey, with his hat trick on the day, set the record for most goals scored in a career by a Coker Men's Lacrosse athlete in program history. He has been a staple for this program, and we wish him well in his next endeavors.
  • Will Habel scored in his final game of lacrosse, making a great return to the turf this season with all odds stacked against him
