How It Happened
After Lenoir-Rhyne scored the opening goal to take the 1-0 lead, the Cobras went on a four-goal run in the first quarter. Two of the four were Beighey goals (both came on Forehand assists), one was an Augie Ford unassisted goal, and the final goal of that run was the first from Hiltz (James Brands assist). With that run, the Cobras held a 4-1 lead over the Bears heading into the second quarter.
Unfortunately for the Cobras, the Bears went on an extended run in the second period which ultimately led to a Coker loss. Lenoir-Rhyne outscored Coker 9-1 in this frame, with the lone goal coming from a Calidonio unassisted shot that was picked up off the face-off. With that, it was 10-5 heading into the second half.
The Cobras did not go quietly, fighting for the full 60 minutes of play. for the second 30 minutes, the teams were completely even with a 4-4 scoreline. The four second-half goals for Coker came from Tyler Ajemian, Hiltz, Forehand, and Beighey. Unfortunately, that second quater proved to be too much as the Cobras fell in their home finale to the seventh-ranked Bears.
