How It Happened
The Cobras got on the board first with an Ajemian goal (assist Britt Rumbaugh) to make this one 1-0 early. After the Crusaders evened it up at 1-1, we were tied heading into the second quarter. Two more from Belmont Abbey gave them a 3-1 lead, but the Cobras weren't done fighting.
Down 3-1, Hiltz scored his first of the day (Ajemian assist) to bring this back to a one-goal game. Then, Ford scored one unassisted to even it all up at 3-3. Belmont Abbey went on another 3-0 run in the second quarter, but Coker was able to get one back just before the break when Hiltz netted his second (Ford assist) to bring it back to 6-4 heading into the half.
The Crusaders opened up the half with another 3-0 run to make this a 9-4 ballgame at the beginning of the fourth quarter. Within a two-minute span, both Marshall and Justin Beighey scored unassisted goals to bring it back within three at 9-6. The Crusaders responded with yet another three-goal run to put them at 12-6 and put this one out of reach. A late unassisted goal by Marshall, his second of the day, wasn't enough to close the gap and the Cobras fell 12-7.
