How It Happened
The first two goals of the game were scored by Barton, but Coker responded with two of their own with one from Tyler Ajemian (Beighey assist) and one from Ryan Forehand. Barton scored the two following to take a 4-2 lead, but Beighey (Hiltz assist) cut the deficit to just one at 4-3. The Bulldogs scored two in contrast to the Cobras' one (Hiltz unassisted) before the half ended as the Cobras trailed 6-4 at the half.
Opening up the second half, the Bulldogs came out hot and scored the first two to take the 8-4 lead, the largest for them in this one. The Cobras, not going quietly, scored a whopping five unanswered goals to take the lead at 9-8 five minutes into the fourth quarter. After Barton tied it at 9-9, Forehand scored his second of the day to give the lead back to the Cobras with under a minute and a half left on the clock.
Unfortunately, the Bulldogs scored less than a minute later and this one was headed to overtime to decide what had been a great game up until this point. Then, with the game on the line, a pass from Rumbaugh resulted in Beighey's third goal to win this stunner of a game in overtime by a score of 11-10!
