How It Happened
The Lions surged out to a lead, scoring five unanswered goals to head up 5-0 shortly into the second quarter. With 10:50 on the clock in the second period, the Cobras got on the board with a Beighey goal assisted by Ford to cut into the lead. After another Lions goal, the Cobras struck again, with Sean Moran scoring one unassisted to make it 6-2. The Lions scored three unanswered goals to round out the half with a 9-2 lead.
The comeback began to materialize for the Cobras in the second half, beginning with another Beighey goal that was assisted by Ford. The Cobras gave up one to make it 10-3 but then surged with five unanswered goals to make this one close at 10-8. Needing to score two more to tie it, the Cobras instead gave two up to finish the contest with a 12-8 loss.
