Ethan Irizarry Scores 100th Career Goal Against No. 19 Limestone on Senior Day

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - Senior Ethan Irizarry scored his 100th career goal as Coker men's lacrosse fell to No. 19 Limestone 21-11 on Senior Day on Saturday (Apr. 10).

Irizarry hit the century mark two and a half minutes in, becoming the second player in program history to score 100 career goals (Shane Wilson, 113, 2013-16). The Saints went on a three-goal run, before Henry Haskett scored from Matt Murphy six minutes in to get the Cobras back within one. Haskett would score again unassisted to get the Cobras back within two after two consecutive Limestone goals, before the Saints finished off the frame with two goals for a 7-3 lead after 15 minutes.

The Saints controlled the second quarter, taking a double-digit lead to the half.

Joe Venazio would open the third quarter with a goal from Andrew Dappen less than two minutes in, before answering a run by the Saints off an assist from Cal Gibson to send the teams to the fourth.

Coker out-scored Limestone 6-1 in the fourth to bring the game to its final score. Richie Timothee began tings with an unassisted goal three and a half minutes in, before Venazio scored from Dappen six seconds later. The pair would hook up again with five minutes to play, before Timothee scored unassisted 17 seconds later. Murphy followed with an unassisted marker 17 seconds later, before Dappen netted an unassisted goal just 23 seconds later. The Saints would score the final goal of the game with 1:10 to play.

Venazio paced the Cobras with four goals, while Timothee and Haskett each scored twice and Irizarry, Murphy and Dappen each scored once. Dappen dished out a team-high three assists, while Murphy and Gibson each helped on one Coker goal. Jason McNeany paced the Cobras with five ground balls on the day, while 12 others were active in the ground ball effort. Dezmon Patten, Kaleb Philson and Sean Bennett each caused two turnovers, while six others registered one apiece. Chris Hagy stopped 12 shots between the pipes.

The Cobras are back in action on Wednesday (Apr. 14) to host Lincoln Memorial. Opening face-off is set for 1:00 p.m., with video and live stats available at www.cokercobras.com.
