Men’s Lacrosse Stumbles Late Against Newberry

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker College men's lacrosse team fell at home on Wednesday (Mar. 20) to Newberry College 17-12 as they dropped just their second South Atlantic Conference matchup of the season.

Matt Murphy and Joe Venazio led the Coker attack as they both scored four goals in the game, while Ethan Irizarry added a pair of goals himself. Charles Stafford and Nicholas Maddox were the other Cobras that managed to find the back of the net and Maddox would also add an assist to his statline. Jonah Robertson and Lucas Hediger led the squad in assists with two each and Justin Hopkins and Jason McNeany each added an assist.

Chris Hagy got the start between the pipes and made five saves in his 45 minutes of action. Chris Stallings would get hit with the loss after he came on in the fourth quarter for his first appearance for the Navy and Gold, making three saves.

The Cobras will be back in action on Sunday (Mar. 24) when they host Montevallo at 1:00 PM.
