HARTSVILLE, S.C. –Coker College men's lacrosse player, Dylan Marks, has been named the 2015 Sout Atlatnic Conference Men's Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the league announced today.

The SAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year award is presented annually to one student-athlete in each of the conference's championship sports, and is voted on by the league's Faculty Athletic Representatives Committee.

On the field, Marks, a defender and team captain, played in 14 games and earned first team All-SAC honors. On the season, he tallied one assist while picking up 36 ground balls and causing 16 turnovers. His play was instrumental in the men's lacrosse team winning a share of the 2015 SAC regular season title, as he anchored a defense that led the SAC in clear attempts and gave up the fourth-fewest goals in the conference.

Marks is a senior physical education major with a concentration in exercise science and boasts a 3.8 grade-point average. In March, Marks was the recipient of the 2014-15 Department of Physical Education and Sports Studies Outstanding Student Award. He is also a nominee for Scholar All-America honors from the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA).

Marks has been named to the Coker College Dean's List his sophomore, junior and senior year. He has also been named to the conference honor roll all four years, twice in Conference Carolinas and twice in the SAC.

In the community, Marks has been visible, partaking in numerous projects such as the MS Bike Ride, Habitat for Humanity, Byerly Park Fall Carnival and the Pumpkin Patch setup at St. Bartholomew's Church.

A native of Westminster, Md., Marks will attend the University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Medicine in the fall to study physical therapy.
