Coker Falls Short to Pfeiffer

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – The Coker men's lacrosse team came up short in their Conference Carolinas game with Pfeiffer University on Saturday (Mar. 23), losing 13-6.

At the end of the first quarter, the Cobras trailed by just one goal, 4-3. Four unanswered goals by the Falcons in the second quarter made it an 8-3 game heading into halftime. Coker outscored Pfeiffer 3-2 in the third, cutting the Falcon lead to 9-6. Unfortunately, four more unanswered Pfeiffer goals in the fourth quarter gave the Falcons the 13-6 victory.

Steven Zolezzi led the Cobra attack with two goals, while Ryan Maurer had a goal and three assists. Keith LaClair and Andy Campos each added a goal and an assist, and Mike Martiello scored also scored a goal. In the goal for the Cobras, Tim Ryan turned away 11 Falcon shots.

The Cobras will be back at home for their next game on Saturday (Mar. 30) against Florida Southern at 12 p.m.
