MELBOURNE, Fla. – Ryan Maurer scored a hat trick and handed out two assists in the Coker men's lacrosse team's 10-7 loss to Florida Tech on Friday (March 1) night.
Coker fell behind 5-2 in the first period and scored two goals in the second, but still found themselves down three goals at halftime, 7-4. After giving up an early goal in the third, the Cobras rattled off three unanswered goals to cut the deficit to just one, 8-7, heading to the fourth. Unfortunately, the Cobras were shutout and Florida Tech posted two goals to take the 10-7 victory.
Josh Masciarelli made 10 saves in the net for the Cobras.
In addition to Maurer's points, John Bretton scored two goals and had two assists, while Keith LaClair posted a goal and an assist and Timothy Smith had a goal.
The Cobras will continue their tour of the Sunshine State with a trip to Tampa on Sunday (March 3). Face-off between the Cobras and the Spartans is set for 1 p.m. Live stats and video for the game will be available online at www.cokercobras.com.
