Cobra Lacrosse Picked Fifth in Conference Preseason Poll

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Coker College men’s lacrosse team has been chosen as the No. 5 team in the 2012 Conference Carolinas Men’s Lacrosse Preseason Coaches Poll released on Wednesday.

National power Limestone was picked as the league favorite, with Pfeiffer University taking the No. 2 spot and Queens University of Charlotte placing third.

Under the direction of first year head coach Tony Smith, the Coker lacrosse team is ready to prove they belong in Conference Carolinas. Led by captains Steven Marciano and Josh Masciarelli, the Cobras will have a challenging first year of competition with several non-conference perennial powers on the schedule including Catawba College (Feb. 15), Chestnut Hill College (Mar. 8) and Seton Hill College (Mar. 10).

Coker will open their inaugural season at home on Friday, Feb. 10 at 6 p.m. against Shorter College. All of the Cobras home games will be played on the football field at Byerly Park in Hartsville.
