Men's Golf Takes 6th at Ralph Hargett Memorial

Monroe, NC: This week the men travled to Monroe, North Carolina to play at Rolling Hills CC. Wingate hosted the tournament with the Cobras finishing in 6th place with a final team score of Even par over 3 rounds.

Round 1:

The Freshman from Scotland, Adam Scott, led the Cobras in round 1 with a final score of 1 under. Scott had decisive birdies on holes 8 and 12 that were playing over par on the day. Derek McGlaughlin also had an impressive outing as he shot even par. McGlaughlin started his round well as he was -2 going into the 14th hole. However, on hole 14 McGlaughplin lost both strokes gained through 13 due to a double bogey on 14. The team score at the end of the 1st round of play was +3

Round 2:

The Second round of the tournament had a new leader for the Cobras. Ty O'Brien led the Cobras in round 2 as he shot -3 on the day. The second hole is where O'Brien really impressed. Hole 2 of Rolling Hills CC was playing as the second-hardest hole on the course in round two. Dax Becker had the second-best round on the day for the Cobras as he shot even par. Becker had a rollercoaster of a front nine as he had started 2 under through 4 holes followed up with 2 bogeys shortly after on holes 8 and 9 to finish out the front nine. Becker had a rather boring back nine in comparison as he had 9 pars to finish out round 2. The team finished round two with a final score of +1 for the round and +4 over the tournament.

Round 3:

The final round of the tournament had Adam Scott leading the Cobras once again after an impressive -5. Scott had 4 birdies and 1 eagle in this final round along with 1 bogey to lead the Cobras. Following up Scott's round was Dax Becker who shot -1 in the last round. Becker was +2 going into the back nine after shooting a double bogey on nine. However, Becker turned up the pressure on his opponents on the back nine. Becker had 3 birdies on the back nine to finish out his round.

Overall:

For the tournament, the Cobras had the most pars out of their competition with a total of 170. The Cobras also came in 6th in total birdies and 5th in total eagles throughout all 3 rounds of golf.
