McGlaughlin Finishes Fifth, As Cobra Take Sixth At Bearcat Invitational
Senior Derek McGlaughlin shoots even par to pace Cobras at Verdae
GREENVILLE, SC. - Coker shot +24 over the course of three rounds, as the Cobras placed sixth in the season opener at the Bearcat Invitational.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Coker opened their season off with a +4 first round on Monday morning, as Derek McGlaughlin (-1) and Maximilian Barclay (E) paced the Cobras on day one. Adam Scott and Ty O'Brien rounded out the four scores Coker took heading into day two. Following round one Coker was tied for third with Lenoir-Rhyne at +3, as Catawba led the pack shooting +1.
On day two, Coker was led by McGlaughlins two under performance as he helped pace the Cobras to a nine over par round as a team. McGlaughlin birdied two holes in the second round, while also adding two eagles. Barclay and Clay also added three birdies for the Cobras in the second 18.
The final 18 proved to be the difference for the Cobras ultimately placing them in 6th place on the tournament. Scott shot two over with four birdies on his score card, while McGlaughlin, Barclay, and Becker all shot three over on the round, for a total of 11 over on the final 18 holes. The Cobras finished just four strokes behind Belmont Abbey for fifth place on the tournament, while Wingate shot even and took home first place.
