Ryan Places Fifth as Cobras Have Strong Showing at Spring Kickoff

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla- The Coker men's golf team wrapped up play at the 2022 Spring Kickoff hosted at the St. John Golf Club & Country Club. The team had a strong showing against several nationally ranked programs and defeated several South Atlantic Conference teams.

As a team, Coker finished tied for seventh place shooting 907 (+43).

Killian Ryan led the Cobras tying for fifth, shooting 220 (+4) overall. Ryan shot a 74 (+2) in his final round, birdieing holes 12, 14, and 16. Fred Tindale shot a 231 (+15) at the tournament and finished up round three shooting a 75 (+3). Caleb Tidd shot a 232 (+16) overall and a 76 (+4) on the day. Coleman Bess shot a 233 (+17) at the tournament and an 83 (+11) in round three. Bess recorded a score of 72 (E) in round two, the Cobra's best individual score of the tournament. Michael Finnegan shot a 235 (+19) overall and a 76 (+4) in round three.

" We beat a lot of really good teams this week, but are disappointed we couldn't finish higher," said John Hackney."

"This was a really tough and unforgiving course if you made a mistake and it showed across the board," said Hackney.  "Killian was steady through the entire tournament, as he has been all year. He sprinkled in a handful of birdies and avoided big holes to beat several nationally ranked players in a packed field."

The men hit the links again Feb. 28 as they compete at the Hurricane Invitational in Albany, Georgia. Live coverage can be found at www.cokercobras.com
