Coker in First Place After Day One of CIU Invitational

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Coker University men's golf team completed the first round of the CIU Spring Invitational at the Columbia Country Club in Columbia, S.C. today (Feb. 22).

Coker had a strong round one and currently sits in first place in the tournament with three Cobras inside the top five. 

Fred Tindale leads the Cobras, sitting in first place after shooting a 71 (-2) in round one. Tindale birdied holes nine, 10 and 11 and shot for par on 13 holes. Coleman Bess is in second place after shooting a 72 (E). Bess birdied holes two, three, 10 and 18. Caleb Tidd is tied for fourth, shooting a 74 (+4). Tidd birdied holes three, seven, nine, 12 and 15. Killian Ryan is in eighth, shooting a 76 (+4), making birdie on the 18th hole and shooting for par on 12 holes. Jonathan Hallinger is tied for 24th, shooting an 80 (+8) on the day.  Individually, Juan Jose Cotts is also tied for 24th, shooting an 80 (+8) and Frans Axelsson is in 34th after shooting 83 (+11). 

The Cobras will be back in action tomorrow, Tuesday (Feb. 23) Tee time is set for 10:00 a.m. with a shotgun start. Live results can be found on the Golf Genius app.
