Cobras in Fourth After Day One of SAC Men’s Golf Championship

ETOWAH, N.C. – The Coker College men's golf team fired an opening round score of 300 at the South Atlantic Conference Men's Golf Championship. The Cobras find themselves in a tie for fourth after the opening 18 holes.

There was little separation amongst the field on the opening day of the tournament, as only nine strokes separate the leaders and two teams tied for eighth place.

Will Bundy and Ethan Cairns are in a tie for tenth place individually, after shooting opening rounds of 74. Jonathan Sundstrom signed off on a round of 75, leaving him in a tie for 14th individually. Wanjoo Lee and Niclas Heino rounded out the Cobra lineup, shooting rounds of 77 and 80.

Lenoir-Rhyne University and Carson-Newman University are atop the team leaderboard, shooting a team score of 295 on day one. Hunter McCombs of Lenoir-Rhyne and Jon Noble of Queens University of Charlotte are the individual overnight leaders. Both shot rounds of 70 to open the tournament.

Tee times from Etowah, N.C. begin at 8:30 a.m. with the Cobras teeing off beginning at 10 a.m. Heino will tee off at 10 a.m., Lee at 10:09 a.m., Sundstrom at 10:18, Cairns at 10:27 a.m. and Bundy at 10:36 a.m. For more information about the 2016 SAC Men's Golf Championship, click here
