Coker Takes Down Emmanuel In Overtime
An Xavier Harris three sent the Cobras to overtime, who prevailed in the extra frame to improve to 2-0
Emmanuel, GA. - Trailing by three with two minutes to go, Coker continued to fight, as Xavier Harris hit a three with eight seconds left to force overtime. In the extra frame, Coker make clutch free throws to secure a 2-0 weekend in Emmanuel.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Coker jumped out to an early 12-9 lead through the first four minutes thanks to Sebastian Cole, who scored the first five points for the Cobras.
Throughout the night, the Cobras battled foul trouble, which called for multiple players to play extrended minutes.
Picking up from last night's record breaking points scored in a game, the Cobras continued to shoot the ball well from behind the arc in the first half. At the break Coker shot 48% from the field and 41% from three.
Emmanuel raced out of the gate in the second half, erasing the Cobra lead just three minutes into the half. From there, the two teams traded baskets throughout.
With two minutes remaining, Coker trailed by three. Xavier Harris proved to be the differene in regulation for the Cobras. With 1:47 on the clock he stole the ball from an Emmanuel player before being fouled. After splitting a pair of free throws, Coker trailed 97-99.
After each team traded a pair of missed threes, Coker was forced to foul with 11 second remaining. Devin Story split a pair of free throws to take a 100-97 lead.
Harris received the inbounds and split the defense, before kicking it to teammate Jamie Muldowney, who drew two, and immediately made the right play kicking it back to Harris, who then hoisted a three as time ran down. As the ball was in the air, Coker's bench stood up watching the shot travel. Harris drained it, nothing but the net to send the Cobras to overtime.
In overtime Emmanuel struck first, but Logan Murray wasted no time to respond with a three to take the lead. Emmanuel responded holding a 108-105 lead with a little over 2 minutes remaining. From there, Coker turned up the pressure and took the lead, and never looked back. Ian Blue and Murray sank clutch free throws down the stretch, and Coker prevailed to take down Emmanuel 117-113.
