
Men's Basketball Take Down Erskine, Set School Record
Coker Men's basketball shatters last seasons school record for points in a single game as they down Erskine on opening night.
Emmanel, GA. - Coker took down Erskine Friday night in dominant fashion. The Cobras saw five players reach double digits, as they set a school record of 135 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
If you blinked, you would have seen Coker up 21-2 after the first four minutes of the game. The Cobras, who were paced by junior Judson Coan, jumped out to an early lead in Friday night's game before the first media timeout.
From there, the Cobras continued to pour it on in dominant fashion. Coker, who uniquely subsitues five players on at a time, used its depth to conitnue to extend its lead throughout the first half.
At the end of the first ten minutes, Coker led 34-13. The Cobras shot off the charts all night long putting up a three point percentage of 44.4 over the course of regulation.
At the half, Coker took a demanding 72-34 lead.
In the second half, the Cobras continued their dominance pouring on 63 additonal points.
The Cobras racked up a school record 135 points on the night, with every player scoring atleast one point. Coker was led by Judson Coan who had a team and game high of 26 points on 9 of 12 shooting from the field, with 7 of 10 coming from behind the three point line.
Coker had five player score in double figures, with five players also assiting on three or more baskets, as it was a team win all the way around on opening night.
On the night Coker shot 57% from the field, while also adding 44% from behind the arc. The Cobras made 47 field goals on the night, 24 of which were three pointers. 11 players made atleast one three pointer.
On the defensive side of the ball, Coker forced Erskine into 23 turnovers on the night. Coker added 43 of their 135 points off of turnovers.
NOTEABLES:
Coker's 135 points is the highest points total in the history of Coker Men's Basketball.
