Men's Basketball Loses Nail-Biter at Home To Catawba

Coker University Men's Basketball faced off against Catawba on January 4, 2024, in what turned out to be an intense and closely contested game. Despite their best efforts, Coker fell short to Catawba with a final score of 92-89.

The game started off with high energy, and both teams were eager to take control. Coker managed to grab an early lead in the first half, with a score of 51-46. However, Catawba quickly caught up in the second half, erasing the deficit and ultimately taking the win.

For the Catawba team, DeAngelo Epps stood out with a strong performance, contributing 14 points, 3 rebounds, and 5 assists in 30 minutes of play. Javeon Jones also had an impressive game, scoring 17 points, along with 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Justin Banks made significant contributions off the bench, scoring 21 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

On the Coker side, Hayden Abdullah led the way with 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. Demar Anderson also made a significant impact, scoring 22 points, along with 7 rebounds and 2 assists. Andre Leavell showcased his playmaking abilities with 10 assists and contributed 14 points as well.

Both teams showcased their shooting abilities throughout the game. Catawba shot 52.8% from the field, while Coker shot 47.9%.

The game was officiated by Carl Bleich, Jordan Arnold, and Justin Bates. The attendance for the game was 91, which created an exciting atmosphere in the DeLoach Center.
