Men's Basketball Battles but Drops South Atlantic Conference Contest to Anderson Saturday

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - Coker University men's basketball battled, but dropped its South Atlantic Conference to Anderson on Saturday (Jan. 29) by a score of 77-70.

The Cobras jumped out to a 10-point lead through eight minutes, before the lead would fluctuate over the next few minutes. Coker re-gained its 10-point lead with under four minutes to play in the first at 30-20, before a late Anderson run tied the game up at 32 headed to the break.

The Cobras opened the second half with seven unanswered points through the first two minutes, before the teams eventually battled to a 46-43 game in favor of the Cobras with under 12 minutes to play. The Cobras would get their lead back up to seven with under eight minutes to play, before the teams battled to a 64-64 deadlock with four and a half minutes to play. Anderson would rally in that time, as the Cobras battled until the final horn.

Williams Onyeodi led the Cobras with 18 points, while Zavier Measmer poured in 15 points on five long balls. Demar Anderson also added 13 points for the Cobras, while four others contributed points. Anderson led Coker with eight rebounds in the game, while six others were active on the glass in the game for the Cobras. Anderson also dished out a career-high five assists in the game, while five others helped on Coker buckets in the game. Onyeodi registered a team-high three steals in the game, while three others each tallied steals in the game. Christopher Fordham and Raymond Bellamy each posted one block in the game.
