Men's Basketball Battles, but Drops League Contest at No. 20/22 Lincoln Memorial on Saturday

HARROGATE, Tenn. - Coker University men's basketball battled, but dropped its South Atlantic Conference Contest to No. 20/22 Lincoln Memorial on Saturday (Nov. 27) by a score of 98-81.

The teams played to an early 5-5 deadlock two minutes in, before Coker went on a 7-2 run over the next few minutes to take a 12-7 lead five minutes in. The teams later locked up at 14-14, before playing to a 20-20 tie with 10 and a half minutes to play in the frame. LMU would eventually stretch its lead to seven with six minutes to play, before the lead fluctuated until the end of the half. The Railsplitters led 41-34 at the break.

LMU increased their lead to double digits in the first few minutes of the second half, before Coker would cut the deficit to nine less than four minutes in. Coker got within as few as seven with 12 and a half minutes to play, before LMU took the lead back up to double digits and held it until the final horn.

Chandler Lindsey and Williams Onyeodi each totaled a team-best 16 points, while Jahnarious Snell also added 12 points in the game. Eight other Cobras scored in the contest. Onyeodi and Ryan Carfley each pulled down a team-best five rebounds for Coker, while eight others were active on the glass in the game. Lindsey led the Cobras with seven assists in the game, while six others helped on Coker buckets in the game. Onyeodi and Lindsey each registered three steals in the game, while Christopher Fordham also had two steals in the game.

The Cobras return to action on Wednesday (Dec. 1) at Catawba in South Atlantic Conference action. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. from Salisbury, N.C., with video and live stats available at www.cokercobras.com.
