Men's Basketball Falls to Lenoir-Rhyne in Saturday Conference Tilt

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker University men's basketball team fell to Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday (Jan. 23) in South Atlantic Conference action by a score of 75-64.

The Bears jumped out to a 10-2 lead four and a half minutes in, before the Cobras would get back within five with 12 minutes to play in the first half. L-R would stretch its lead into double-digits with six and a half minutes to play in the half, before the Cobras would get back within three with three minutes to play in the half. L-R would end up taking a 36-29 lead to the half.

The Cobras got back within two just over a minute into the second half, before the Bears extended their lead back to 10 five minutes into the frame. The lead fluctuated between single and double digits over the next few minutes, before the Cobras would climb back within seven with 2:20 to play. Coker would inch the deficit down to five several times in the final two minutes, but L-R was able to stave off the comeback to take the road victory.

The Cobras shot 49.1 percent (26-53) on the day, along with seven three-pointers. Malcolm Kennedy poured in a team-high 22 points, while eight other Cobras scored in the game. Chandler Lindsey led the Cobras with six boards on the day, while Christopher Fordham and Anderson Keller each pulled down five rebounds in the game. Five others were active on the glass for the Cobras. Lindsey dished out a game-high 10 assists to lead the Cobras, while four others helped on Coker buckets in the game. DeVante Johnson and Williams Onyeodi each recorded one steal in the game, while Fordham, Anthony Thomas and Keller each posted blocks on the day.

The Cobras return to the hardwood on Wednesday (Jan. 27) to face Wingate in South Atlantic Conference action. Tip-off is set for approximately 8:00 p.m. from the DeLoach Center, with video and live stats available at www.cokercobras.com.
