Coker Runs Past Lenoir-Rhyne for Conference Win on Saturday

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker University men's basketball team ran past visiting Lenoir-Rhyne for a South Atlantic Conference victory on Saturday (Feb. 15) by a score of 76-59.

Lenoir-Rhyne jumped out to a 9-2 lead through three minutes, before Coker would get as close as four over the next few minutes. The Bears would keep Coker at a distance for the next few minutes, before Coker would get back within two with under six minutes to play in the first half. Coker would tie the game at 29 with four and a half minutes to play, before tying the game yet again and taking the lead for the first time in the game in the final minute of the half. The Cobras went to the locker room with a 37-35 lead.

Coker led by five through the first media timeout, before the Cobras would extend their lead into double-digits with eight minutes to play. L-R would briefly get back within single digits, before Coker would stretch its lead further. The Cobras would continue to increase their lead and keep the pressure on, right up until the final horn.

Chandler Lindsey led the Cobras with a game and career-high 27 points, while Malcolm Kennedy and Dakota Jennings each added 15 points in the game. Four other Cobras contributed points in the contest. Coker out-rebounded L-R 34-27, led by a game and career-high 11 boards from Lindsey to complete the double-double. Eight other Cobras were active on the glass in the game. Lindsey also led the Cobras with six assists o the day, while three other Cobras helped on buckets in the game. Kennedy led the Cobras with four steals in the game, while three others also recorded steals. Jennings led the Cobras with two blocks, while Williams Onyeodi, KJ Harris and Kennedy each had one.

The Cobras are back in action on Wednesday (Feb. 19) to host Anderson (S.C.) in the annual Play 4 Kay game to show support for breast cancer awareness and research. Please come wearing pink! Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m., with video and live stats available at www.cokercobras.com.
