
Cobras Drop Non-Conference Contest at Limestone
The Coker College men’s basketball team dropped a non-conference contest against Limestone 81-72 Tuesday (Dec. 5) evening.
GAFFNEY, S.C. - The Coker College men's basketball team dropped a non-conference contest against Limestone 81-72 Tuesday (Dec. 5) evening.
The Cobras came out of the gates strong, stringing together a 7-2 run to begin the game thanks to a Demarco Jackson three ball, Khalil Halls layup, and Larry Cooper jumper. The Saints battled back to take a 17-16 lead. However, Coker responded with a six-point run to take 22-17 lead with 10:37 remaining in the first half.
Coker and Limestone continued to exchange scores for the remainder of the half, and the Saints took a 37-34 advantage into the locker rooms.
Next, Limestone went on to outscore Coker 44-38 in the second half to seal the victory.
Donte Samuels led the way for the Navy and Gold, pouring in 19 points on 6-11 shooting. Cooper chipped in 14 points and added seven rebounds, while Jake Barrett finished with nine points and a team-high eight rebounds.
The Cobras will be back in action on Saturday (Dec. 9) when they travel to Carson-Newman to take on the Eagles in a South Atlantic Conference game. Opening tip is set for 4 p.m.
