Hartsville Boy Scouts Partake in Clinic Hosted by Coker Men's Basketball

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker men's basketball team recently hosted a three-day basketball clinic beginning on Monday (Apr. 6) for the Hartsville Boy Scouts' Scoutreach Program.

"The clinic was a blast and just so amazing for the scouts and players alike," said head coach Dan Schmotzer. "The gym was loud and full of excitement and to see all the smiles on the kids faces was priceless. This is what you do it for."

The players spent the afternoon teaching the different troops how to dribble, pass and shoot. The clinics were concluded daily with skill competitions and games of five-on-five.

"The Coker men's basketball players were terrific role models," said Sharman Poplava of the TEACH Foundation. "The scouts' enthusiasm was through the roof because of the time the players took to teach them the game. I really appreciate their time with the boys and I know the boys do, too."
