
Coker Falls In Season Finale At Belmont Abbey
Crusaders use first quarter goal to power past Cobras
Belmont, NC. - Belmont Abbey scored their lone goal in the first quarter, as Coker falls on the road in season finale.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The first quarter saw Belmont Abbey putting pressure on the Cobras with eight shots, but it was the Coker defense standing strong multiple times.
In the 12th minute, the Crusaders finally broke through on a goal from Casey Etter.
Coker continued to show fight, as they have all season long, putting three shots on goal in the second quarter.
Kaiya Sabur ripped two shots in the period, as Chloe Parker made excellent saves to keep the Cobras at 0 going into the half.
In the third, Eve Sekscinski kept the Cobras in it, saving multiple shots. Sekscinski registered eight saves on the afternoon, five of which were in the third frame.
Coker entered the fourth still trailing 1-0. Their best chance came in the in the 53rd minutes, when they received a corner, taken by Francesca Montanera. She found Sabur's stick who ripped a shot on goal, but was turned away once more by Parker.
The Crusaders held strong over the course of the remaining seven minutes, as Etter's lone goal in the 12th minute proved to be the difference.
