Field Hockey Comes Up Short at Limestone

Gaffney, SC- In a tough matchup against Limestone, Coker's Field Hockey unfortunately fell short, losing with a final score of 1-4.

Limestone started the scoring in the first period with a goal from Zoe Bergmann, assisted by Nicola Naude, giving them an early 1-0 lead. Despite their efforts, Coker was unable to find the back of the net in the first two periods.

In the third period, Limestone extended their lead with another goal from Zoe Bergmann, this time assisted by Josefina Golppi, bringing the score to 2-0 in favor of Limestone. Limestone continued their dominance in the fourth period, as Felicitas Herrero Martel scored an unassisted goal, followed by a goal from Reitumetse Nyakale, making it 4-0 in Limestone's favor.

Coker got on the board late in the fourth period, with Kaiya Sabur scoring an unassisted goal, but it was not enough to mount a comeback, resulting in a final score of 1-4.

Coker's goalkeeper, Eve Sekscinski, made four saves in the game, while Limestone's goalkeeper, Tereza Koprivova, made three saves before being substituted by Antoney Labuschagne for the final minutes of the game.

Shots were heavily in favor of Limestone, with 18 total shots compared to Coker's four. Limestone also had more penalty corners and fouls throughout the game.

Coker Field Hockey will look to bounce back from this loss as they continue their season. Their next game is scheduled for September 14 against Newberry.
