Kabo and Cordrey Named Preseason All-Conference, Cobras Tabbed Third in South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Preseason Coaches' Poll

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Coker University junior forward Britt Kabo and sophomore forward Rylie Cordrey were selected to the South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Preseason All-Conference First Team, while defeinding league champion Coker field hockey was tabbed third in the league's preseason coaches' poll announced today (Friday, Aug. 27).

Kabo posted a team-best seven goals and three assists for 17 points a season ago, finishing third in the league in goals, tied for third in assists and third in points. Named the South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Tournament MVP, and also to the All-Tournament Team and the All-Conference First Team. Kabo was also named the SACC AstroTurf Offensive Player of the Week and the Play Safe Turf & Track/NFHCA National Offensive Player of the Week on Mar. 17. She was also named the inaugural Missy Paterson Hernandez Female Athletic Performer of the Year at Coker's seventh annual FANG Awards.

This is Kabo's second career Preseason All-Conference selection. The Maarssen, Netherlands native is the daughter of Kris and Natacha Kabo, and is a business administration major.

Cordrey tallied six points on three goals a season ago, while being named to the SACC All-Tournament Team and the league's All-Conference Honorable Mention Team. Cordrey was also a nominee for the Female Breakthrough Player of the Year award at Coker's seventh annual FANG Awards.

This is Cordrey's first career Preseason All-Conference selection. The Selbyville, Del. native is the daughter of Rebecca and Keith Cordrey, and is a biology major.

Limestone and Queens (N.C.) were tied atop the preseason coaches' poll with 50 points apiece, with Limestone capturing four first-place votes and Queens getting three. The defending conference champion Cobras were picked third with 45 points and the remaining first-place vote, while Newberry was picked fourth with 42 points. Converse was tabbed fifth with 30 points, while Belmont Abbey was picked sixth with 29 points. Mount Olive (20 points) and league newcomer Lincoln Memorial (14 points) rounded out the poll.

The Cobras start their 2021 season next Sunday (Sept. 5) on the road at defending national champion Shippensburg. The game is set for a 1:00 p.m. start from Shippensburg, Pa., with video and live stats available at www.cokercobras.com
