Cobras Outlast Converse 2-1 in Shootout on Sunday

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Coker University field hockey team outlasted Converse in a shootout on Sunday (Mar. 21) by a score of 2-1.

Rylie Cordrey got the scoring started six and half minutes in with an unassisted goal, before Converse tied things up four minutes later.

The teams would go scoreless through the final three quarters of regulation and two overtime periods before heading to a shootout.

Coda Fisher scored in the first round of the shootout, before Kelsey Sithole and Victoria Humphreys would score in the shootout to secure the victory for Coker, as the Cobras won the shootout 3-1.

Cordrey led the Cobras with three shots in the contest, while Sithole had two and Britt Kabo also had oe. Coker also earned four penalty corners in the game. Kelsey Gibbons (1-0) picked up the win for Coker, making seven saves between the pipes.

Coker (2-1, 2-1 South Atlantic Conference Carolinas) is back in action on Tuesday (Mar. 23) to host Limestone for Senior Day. The game is set for a 4:00 p.m. start, with video and live stats available at www.cokercobras.com.
